What's with the title of this post? If you get it, then you don't need to read this post. If you don't get it, read on, this post might save your life. The title is a quote from what I might just call the best television programming I have ever seen. The show is called "The IT Crowd" and it truly is brilliant. Who knew the Brits could engineer such entertainment? (sarcasm.)
The show takes place in the basement of a 34 storey skyscraper that belongs to Reynholm Industries. Reynholm is a fictitious company that satirically portrays modern day office life. More particularly, the trials and tribulations of modern I.T. staff. Follow the adventures of Moss and Roy as they struggle to survive in a society that isn't very geek tolerant. Jen (their non-technical manager) attempts to bridge the social gap, but often winds up suffering the consequences.
The show is based on a simple reality - large corporations place very little value in their grossly misunderstood and under-appreciated I.T. departments. For any of you that work in I.T. today, you will appreciate the little things in the show, such as Roy's ever amusing "meh." t-shirt or Moss' home-brewed and half-baked soldered concoctions. If you aren't a geek, don't fret - check out the show anyways. Most of the storylines are designed to appeal to the masses. The show takes clever to a whole new level, the likes of which your Tivo has never had the pleasure of recording.
I truly haven't laughed this much during a half hour TV show, ever. I'm hooked and can't wait for season 3. Don't just take my word for it, try it out yourself!
